One of the best family activities during the hot days over summer is going to the movies.  There are many great family movies to check out in the cinemas this year and it is a great way to escape the heat.  Here are five of the most anticipated family movies to watch out for this summer.

Jurassic World (June 12, Suits ages 10 and up)
A sequel to the very successful Jurassic Park films from more than a decade ago, this movie is perfect for families with kids over 10.  Jurassic World takes place in the famous dinosaur park once again and features a new kind of dinosaur — one that has been genetically modified!  This movie will have a few frights, so not for the little kids.  Starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and Ty Simpkins, this film is set to be a blockbuster this summer.

Inside Out (June 19, suits ages 4 and up)
This animated movie looks inside the mind of a young girl and the various emotions that drive her after her family moves towns.  This Pixar film features some famous comedians including Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Lewis Black and Mindy Kaling.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (June 12, Suits ages 12 and up)
Inside Out was a very popular inclusion in the 2015 Sundance Festival, winning the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award.  Based on a young adult book “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”  this movie can be enjoyed by teenagers and parents alike.  Bring the tissues because it is quite a tear-jerker.

Batkid (June 26, suits ages 4 and up)
A very touching film, Batkid is about a day in 2013 when San Francisco was made to look like Gotham City.  It was done to fulfil a young child’s make-a-wish dream.  Large sections of the city worked together to make the city the stage for young Miles Scott to have a day as Batman.

Minions (July 10, suits ages 4 and up)
A spin-off from the wildly successful Despicable Me movies, it focuses on the Minions.  These funny little yellow creatures have hysterical adventures and the kids will love it.  The film takes place in the 1960s, about 40 years before the Despicable Me setting.  After accidentally killing their masters, the minions decide to go to Antarctica, but things don’t go as planned!  The movie features Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton.
