The Enrolment Process FAQ
How do I get started in cord blood banking?
When you decide to do cord blood banking, all you need to do is call us or send us an email so we can arrange for one of our cord blood specialists to meet with you. You will need to sign a storage agreement and pay the initial deposit. You will then receive your Cells4Life collection kit which you need to bring to the hospital on your due date.
We recommend that you have enrolled and have your Cells4Life collection kit within 4 to 6 weeks of your expected delivery date, but you can enroll at any time before this. If you signed up before your 6th month, you will be entitled to an early sign-up discount.
What happens on the day of the delivery?
Remember to bring the collection kit to the hospital with you on the day of delivery and simply hand it to your doctor or midwife and they will perform the collection for you once the umbilical cord is clamped and cut.
Call us when the cord blood sample is collected so we can check if the sample is packaged correctly and fill out the shipping documentation. We’ll then arrange for a sample pick up and delivery to our lab for sample testing, processing and storage.
What needs to be done during the time between the registration and the collection?
During this time, we only ask you to keep us updated on the delivery date so that we are aware that the birth and collection is about to take place.
