Doctors have been using stem cells to treat a variety of illnesses for decades. Stem cells are currently used to treat more than 80 different forms of cancer, metabolic disorders, immune system disorders, and blood disorders.
Doctors may soon be using stem cells to heal burns on a regular basis. Researchers have discovered that certain types of stem cells can help to reduce skin inflammation and promote cellular regeneration.
Stem cells were recently used to treat Denisse, a lady from the Doral, Florida. She had an accident in the kitchen of her restaurant, spilling hot oil on her legs and causing some nasty burns.
Denisse had read about the recent breakthroughs by scientists who have been using stem cells to heal burns. She approached StemCell Miami Institute, a stem cell company in Florida, to ask them if a stem cell treatment could help heal her burns.
The company knew about the current research which showed that stem cells can accelerate the healing process and reduce scarring. In fact, the company had already used stem cells to treat an ulcer on an elderly patient’s leg. The stem cells helped to heal the patient’s leg within a month — an impressive result!
StemCell Miami Institute told Denisse that using stem cells was a great idea. The procedure they used on her involved a gelatine-like substance that was created from Denisse’s plasma and growth factors. The wound was covered and the gelatine-like substance.
The doctors had planned to reapply the gelatine-like mixture after 72 hours. When they took the bandages off to apply the second treatment, they were surprised to see a significant improvement in the burns. Denisse’s pain was also dramatically reduced at this point. After three treatments the wound was almost 100 percent healed. An incredible result that highlights the benefits of using stem cells to heal burns.
